Things you must avoid before going to bed
Sleeping in very important for us! Average person spend 1/3 of his life sleeping. Enough sleep is crucial for good mood, high energy levels and overall health. People who have insomnia usually do something that interferes with their sleep. There are many things you should do if you want to sleep better, but there are also many things you must avoid before going to bed!
The first and most important thing you must avoid before going to sleep are smartphones, computers and TV. Basically, you should avoid any light-emitting technology. The blue light, that comes from those gadgets prevent our body produce melatonin, which makes us sleepy. If you have low levels of melatonin, you will have problems sleeping, and that is linked to low energy and bad mood! If you want to read something before going to bed, use iPad!
Cell phones are responsible for lack of sleep as well! According to one study, 10% of kids between 13-18 years old, are awakened because of text messages or calls, every night! One of five people, age 13-28, said that they are awakened once a week or more often by their phone! If you are involved in group conversations and phone calls, put your phone in another room, or simply turn it off! Having a phone near your head will awake you several times a week.
Some medications are known for interfering with sleep. Antidepressants can make you sleepy, but can make you stay awake! Sleeping pills aren’t solution for that! They should be used short-term. If you have problems sleeping, visit your doctor and explain to him, which medications you are taking!
