Are Whole Fruits Better Than Fruit Juices?

There are endless diets out there that rely on fruit juices, but are all the stories around juices worthy of attention? Firstly, by fruit juices, we mean the juices that are made at home using your juicer or similar appliances. The canned and tetra pack juices you get in the market is nowhere near to natural homemade juices in nutrients and should be best avoided. This brings us to the topic on whether natural juices are as good as whole fruits.

Whole fruits are high on fiber

While juices made freshly at home are not devoid of nutrients, whole fruits are better with regards to fiber content. Given that fruits are high on natural sugars and fiber, the latter is important for digestion and overall lowering of the cholesterol levels.

Avoid storing juices

Juices that are freshly made and consumed have good nutritional value, but if you intend to store the juice, some of the vitamins are surely compromised. Whole fruits, even when refrigerated, do not lose the overall quality and nutrients, which is why you might still consider keeping whole fruits in the handbag.

Fruits aid dieting

If you are dieting, whole fruits are any day better than juices, because the skin, pulp and fiber keeps the stomach filled for longer times. Fruits, when consumed at the right intervals, don’t let you have those unwanted hunger pangs, mainly because the digestion takes time. Juices are high on natural sugars that are easily absorbed, which makes the body crave for more.

Next time you are keen on apple juice, lay your hands on whole apple instead!
