The Roundup weed killer is responsible for cancer
Organic living means having a healthy lifestyle. The main part of it is organic food. You probably already know all good sides of organic for and all bad sides of conventionally grown food. Well, the truth is you don’t know all drawbacks. According to one study, conducted by IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) and World Health Organization (French based arm), found that the glyphosate, the main ingredient in Roundup week killer, is a carcinogen!
Currently this weed killer falls in the category between proved and possible carcinogens on the agency’s listing. EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) announced that they will consider these results!
Roundup weed killer is the most used herbicides in the US. In most cases, it is used with the Monsanto’s Roundup Ready crops, because seeds, that are genetically modified, can resist the chemicals. For example, in the US, 89% of the corn and 93% of soy are genetically modified. Herbicides are used on non-food and food crops.
In addition, this study found that glyphosate is responsible for high risk of lymphoma and it’s been linked to many cancers on lab rats! EPA announced that the usage of this ingredient increased dramatically in the last 30 years! For example, in 1986, 6,308,000 pounds of products that contain glyphosate was used in the US. In 1990, 11,595,000 pounds were used! The situation is much worse in recent years. 13-20 million acres were treated with roughly 18 million lbs., every year! This is harmful for the farmers and for the people who eat this food. Now you can see that organic products are a much better solution!
